I have worked with Henry* since he was in middle school. Last year at camp he said he was not ready to enter into a relationship with Jesus. This year on our high school spring break beach retreat, he was listening to the adults sharing their stories and the story of Christ but again he was not yet ready. There seemed to be a struggle with giving up his way of doing things in his life and trading them in for God’s way of doing things.
At High School Camp a few weeks ago right before we were dismissed for our last evening’s activities, I told our cabin, “It is ok wherever you are in your journey, but please let me know where you are.” That night, as a cabin, we prayed with Henry to receive Jesus into his heart.
This incredible young man, for me, has been a journey of patience, time put in and loving him right where he is. It was never about my timing but God’s timing, and the investment of patience and time has been completely worth it.
