On the last night of high school camp, our speaker opened a space for students to go to their leaders for prayer. After, I asked one of my students what he thought of club that night, his response was “Well, I prayed for the first time”. I was a bit baffled, Connor* has been involved in Campus Life longer than I have and this was his first time praying! We continued to discuss the night and camp and he eventually said to me “I think I’m ready to say ‘yes’ to Jesus. I’ve never read a single page of my bible, but I want to start tomorrow.” All I could do was smile and rejoice!
For years, Connor has been dedicated to Campus Life and the friendships he has built, but after several years in club, and two summers at camp, and a night of prayer, he finally realized how much the Lord desires his heart. This moment was joyous and heartfelt and such a reminder that planted seeds grow when tended. We are seed planters but every now and then, the Lord allows us to be present for the fruit.
Also, he didn’t wait to start reading his bible; he read his first page that very night.
